Greet and Acknowledge People

Everyone wants acknowledgment.  Everyone wants to know that they matter…your mom, your dad, your neighbor, your classmates, your best friend’s little sister, the waitress at the Mexican restaurant…everyone!

There is a great way to show your manners and give everyone the acknowledgment they desire.  And it doesn’t cost very much.  As a matter of fact, it doesn’t cost anything at all!

Here is what you do…Greet the people you see each day.

In the morning, greet your family members as you see them.  As the day progresses, greet those you know.  And don’t just greet your friends, but include your teachers, your friend’s siblings and parents, and your friend’s friends.  You can even give a nod to those you don’t know very well.

This greeting with a positive attitude (remember the positive attitude!) keeps the relationship moving in the right direction and gives a boost to the person you are greeting.  You will also get a greeting in return!

Ignoring those around you can be taken as a snub.  You may be thinking, “I have a lot on my mind, far too much to be involved in little pleasantries.” But the person who just watched you glide buy without saying a word is thinking, “How rude!”

Your greeting does not need to be a formal “How do you do, good sir? And how are you on this fine morning?”  Your greeting can be a simple “Good Morning,” “Hello,” or “Hi there.”

But, whichever greeting you choose, take the time to greet those around you.
