About

I am currently a homeschool mom and all that goes along with it…. nurse, nutritionist, psychologist (can’t prescribe drugs!), supervisor, buyer, planner, driver, janitor, and (oh yeah) teacher.

We are currently in our 8th year of this homeschool adventure.  As my daughter enters high school age, we have taken a really hard look at what we feel we need to cover before she heads out on her own.

Interestingly, the things we feel she needs to learn have nothing to do with traditional academic subjects.  What we feel she still needs to learn has been lumped under what we call “life skills.”

People Skills, Money Skills, Time Management Skills, etc. are the Life Skills that we want her to master, or at least be introduced to, before she leaves home.  We feel that these are the real things she needs to know to be a successful, helpful, contributing member of society.

I searched for curriculum that covered these life skills and came up short.  So I am drawing upon the resources at my disposal to create a curriculum of my own.

Feel free to follow along with us if you like!  I am posting our lessons as we go along.

P.S. I am also including a component for parents each week at www.ElyceAtHome.com.
