Starting Up a Conversation
If you are at a party or other event and find yourself without someone you know to talk to, there is a great trait that will help you start up a conversation with practically anyone…curiosity.
Remember that people love to talk about themselves. When you are curious about people, what they do, why they do it, and what they think, you will easily find yourself in conversation.
When first meeting someone, asking about their political or religious views is not considered appropriate. But you can be curious about smaller things…Where did you get your ring? What does your lapel pin mean? How do you know the host?
Save deeper, more controversial question for when you know each other much better.
